This reminds me of my favorite high school social studies teacher. He would make fun of us and ask us what we knew, we would tell him and then he would correct us by taking chalk and making a dot on the board and saying, "This is what you know." We all giggled because we thought he was joking. But it was so true. I think the same can apply to creativity. I don't know if you have ever watched any videos on TED.com but I suggest you check out Sir Ken Robinson's talk about creativity. I think you might really dig it. His book is fab as well.
